I BEAM POINTER


pointers A pointer shaped like a capital I used in graphics-based text processing applications. Many desktop publishing systems and word processors use an I-beam pointer to mark blocks of text and move the insertion point. Note that the I-beam pointer is not the same as the selection pointer, which is usually shaped like an arrow.
